As we are now into August and the evenings are getting shorter we all crave comfort food in the evening instead of light meals in the sunshine. Why not try these healthy alternatives to regular burgers and make turkey burgers for the whole family. They are high in protein and low in carbohydrates and fat leaving you feeling fuller for longer! Pop them onto a wholegrain roll and add a side salad, you wont even realise your keeping on top of your healthy diet!
Ingredients:
500g Turkey mince
1 egg, beaten
half a red onion, finely chopped
garlic clove, peeled and crushed
2tsp curry powder
1 handful of chopped coriander
1 tbspn of olive oil
4 wholegrain burger buns
Method:
1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the turkey mince, onion, garlic, curry powder, coriander and egg with a little salt and pepper. Combine well with your hands, then shape into 4 flat burger patties.
2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a high heat, then cook the burgers for 5 mins each side or until cooked through. Toast the cut sides of the burger buns. Place the salad on the bottom halves of the warm buns, then top with the burgers and chutney or lime pickle
